Why "mediia.exe" ??
mediia.exe is a play on my actual last name, Medina. I thought I was being clever for that, and it just stuck. I've been into creating music since 2013 learning as I go. I have done everything myself from the ground up and have treated this as an "expensive hobby" that's endlessly creative which I fortunately love. My inspirations are mostly from mid 2000's to early 2010's which was an era that was transformative and really showed me just how fun music can be.
My musical awakening was "Drop it Low" by Ester Dean & Chris Brown. I remember being at a friend's house and first hearing it on the TV. Something about it at the time was so infectious and different I had to stop and run over to see what song it was. I kept listening to it over and over again after that - breaking it down by analyzing the sound design, drum patterns, bass, vocal riffs. Hell, I even overanalyzed the music video and learned the dances - I was obsessed.
I later started honing my skills with DAWs by recreating instrumentals. Later on, I started downloading official or unofficial instrumentals to practice writing over top of those. Not knowing the vocal composition on the original tracks made me feel like a real songwriter and I LOVED it. (I still have some that I will never release that are IMO better than the originals.)
So please, enjoy my work. I love to share this art with as many people as possible! Thank you.
Remember: if you're not asleep, you're waking up to the mediia
