Mehdi Palmtree is a music project and stage name of french multidisciplinary entertainer Mehdi Besnainou, singer, guitarist, author and composer, who is also known in the contemporary art scene for his paintings, films and hybrid performances. His work has already been shown in international events and prestigious art institutions across Paris, such as the Palais de Tokyo and La Villette.
Born in Paris, Mehdi Palmtree started composing music on his own from an early age, attending theater classes before opting for studies in visual arts. While studying at the École des Beaux-Arts, he had already written numerous songs and played in various gigs, preparing the creation of his future band and the recordings of his first songs.
Mehdi Palmtree released a first single "Our Song" in 2020 with a video clip that proposes a deep atmospheric universe, fusing poetry, absurd humour and melancholy - a whimsical thriller with a Gondry or Cronenberg touch. This first single was then followed by a cover of A$AP Rocky’s "Kissin' Pink", a reinterpretation of the original song transformed into an alternative psych and soul ballad.
Joined by the multitalented artist Paul Thomas, (playing drums, recording and filming for the band), Mehdi Palmtree invited more remarkable musicians to partake in recording sessions like Max Rezài (playing bass), Tanguy Jouanjan (playing synth) and Nicolas Worms (playing synth).
The new single and video clip "The Game" will be released at the end of January 2022
