Musically Mel Vybz has been inspired by the sounds of the music coming out of the Caribbean dating back to the foundation and peak of Dancehall and the newer sound of modern Soca. Soca/Calypso has also been a driving inspiration in the style that Mel is now carved out as his own. More recently Afrobeats and its unique sound and riddims/beats has also helped him to shape his unique musical style. Mel refers to himself as a "fusion artist" and his styles all blend together synergistically and gives his music a distinct bounce and feel.
