On this day, 20 years ago, Melih Kibar passed away. Kibar was one of Turkey's most prolific composers of pop songs and film music. Moreover, he owned a record studio in Istanbul, which saw the recording of many Turkish pop projects. As a composer and conductor, Kibar represented his country in two editions of the Eurovision Song Contest, in 1986 with 'Halley' for Klips & Onlar, which placed ninth, the best Turkish result in the contest until 1997; and in 1995 with the melodious ballad 'Sev!' for Arzu Ece. Melih Kibar passed away at the untimely age of 53 in his native Istanbul. "Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?"
