Melissa Brooks

Based in Los Angeles, Melissa Brooks started releasing music under her alternative rock band moniker <a href="spotify:artist:75dqW38mCNfvNv9G3nqIE5" data-name="The Aquadolls">The Aquadolls</a> in 2012. Inspired by indie pop stars like <a href="spotify:artist:053q0ukIDRgzwTr4vNSwab" data-name="Grimes">Grimes</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:25uiPmTg16RbhZWAqwLBy5" data-name="Charli xcx">Charli xcx</a>, Brooks began teasing the idea of a potential electronic solo album to Fuse TV in 2015. The following years, Brooks recorded The Aquadolls sophomore LP <a href="spotify:album:1hv3JpclGbxVNo3Jntgxka" data-name="The Dream and the Deception">The Dream and the Deception</a>, produced entirely by herself in a DIY fashion, and released in Fall 2018. Brooks began DJing and headlining at underground queercentric events such as Subculture Party, building up a catalogue of remixes and original material. Brooks earned a spot to open for notorious DJ, <a href="spotify:artist:6cEuCEZu7PAE9ZSzLLc2oQ" data-name="R3HAB">R3HAB</a>, in June 2019. After releasing remixes of “Platform Shoes” by <a href="spotify:artist:4QM5QCHicznALtX885CnZC" data-name="Slayyyter">Slayyyter</a> and “Ringtone” by <a href="spotify:artist:6PfSUFtkMVoDkx4MQkzOi3" data-name="100 gecs">100 gecs</a> on Soundcloud, Brooks began gaining attention from artists in the hyperpop community. Brooks started posting her remixes on Tiktok, finding a viral moment when she remixed “Never Met!” by <a href="spotify:artist:3ReVTyprRfKmKquryr9UeA" data-name="CMTEN">CMTEN</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1wpftBruYql3kTa4Px6kze" data-name="Glitch Gum">Glitch Gum</a>. Brooks released her first official solo single “My Kiss” in June 2020, followed by “Straight 2 Hell” featuring underground upcomer <a href="spotify:artist:4etrehjW9pvA2SuBIt56Eh" data-name="Kid Trash">Kid Trash</a> and music production from <a href="spotify:artist:1OrSb6vu3ybhKsSY50R5HU" data-name="Yung Skrrt">Yung Skrrt</a>. Brooks self released her debut album <a href="spotify:album:1P6l0sa32Y8pKpUO4tU04r" data-name="Bratitude">Bratitude</a> in July 2021. Since, Brooks has released a sparkly collaboration track <a href="spotify:track:6mgdm4CSdu8E3EAO3IMbLj" data-name="Barbie (feat. Melissa Brooks)">Barbie (feat. Melissa Brooks)</a> with <a href="spotify:artist:15HOfHbNWedCAcJ3Cm1mbc" data-name="CHYL">CHYL</a> via <a href="spotify:artist:77AiFEVeAVj2ORpC85QVJs" data-name="Steve Aoki">Steve Aoki</a>’s DIMMAK, an EP of four self-released tracks titled Alien Princess, whilst cooking up new tunes for a 2026 album.
