Mellow Party are a lowlander alternative folk band. 1st release was a tribute to comedy hero Billy Connolly for the Friends of the People's Palace . The single was passed onto the big yin by Glasgow acting legend Gavin Mitchell, it received play on the Iain Anderson and Travelling Folk show. Environmental gig theatre show Born To Rewild has been performed outdoors in nature at Vogrie Pogrie Festival, the Govan Wetlands Project and Kelburn Garden Party. The band have influences as varied as Flatt and Scruggs, The Everly Brothers, Robert Burns, The Proclaimers, Simon and Garfunkel and the Humble Bums. 'If It Gets You Where You're Going' was BBC Radio Scotland single of the week April 2023 after which they travelled to New York Tartan week playing gigs at Club Cumming, Bryant Park and The Sony Music Hall main event and The Fire Philadelphia.
Single 'Stand In The Moment' features a picture of poet and activist Jim Monaghan at the Kenmure Street Protest that stopped the deportation of 2 Sikh men thanks to the power of the people of Glasgow. A song about hope and recovery, their first release on Button Up Records, which led to The Scotsman artist of the week 5th May. Single 'Go On Yourself' released 7th Jun 24 features Dumfries Community Choir and achieved single of the week on BBC Radio Scotland as well as being on the ITV news and Heart Radio. The debut album is out now with further radio play by Kathleen MacInnes and on Celtic Music Radio. It's no handsome being this hard!
