Meriem Ben Amor is a talented Tunisian-Canadian singer and songwriter known for her warm, ethereal voice and versatile musical abilities. Fluent in Arabic, French, Spanish, and English, she also has a deep understanding of various cultural influences, allowing her to sing in other languages. In addition to her vocal talents, Meriem is also skilled in a number of string instruments and percussion.
Growing up, Meriem was exposed to a variety of Eastern and Western music styles, starting with her father's Arabic Sufi chanting and later learning the violin, classical guitar, and piano. After completing a degree in electronic engineering in Tunisia, she moved to Canada and further developed her classical music skills at the Royal Conservatory of Music, then enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Music Production and Sound Design at Berklee College of Music.
In 2019, she met with two-time Grammy-nominated producer Carmen Rizzo—known for his work with Seal, Coldplay, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Cheb Khaled, and Alanis Morissette—to collaborate on her debut album Once Upon a Time.
Meriem and Carmen later founded the band DIDON at the end of 2021. Their debut album Tunisian Tale was released in 2023 and held the #1 position on the NACC World Music charts for multiple consecutive weeks. Their most recent album, Malak, was nominated for the JUNO Award for Global Music Album of the Year, marking a major milestone in the band’s journey.
