methyr is the sonic experimentation of UK-based conceptual artist Mitchell Hopkins. His style consists of often noisy MIDI sections, acid synths and synthesised instruments along with modern classical piano textures and drones.
In his debut 비행의 나는 꿈 / (1987 Cassette Rip), Hopkins experimented with ambient textures and MIDI arpeggios. This release was received well and was released through his now “Question Records" experimental electronic net-label. Following this release, he was offered the chance to release an album on OSCOB's "Bedlam Digital" which resulted in the MIDI mayhem that was ANTI-ANTI. Later in the year Hopkins continued his foray into MIDI but borrowed the ambient textures from his work on 비행의 나는 꿈 / (1987 Cassette Rip) creating Pro-Pro, released on Neetspeak Records. After Pro-Pro, Hopkins took a hiatus from the MIDI scene and released Court of Stars through Question Records; a sprawling ambient release based around a short story he had written about space exploration. Digital Autopsy was methyr's first contact with fellow MIDI fanatic Wasn't who released the album on his And Options record label. This would not be the last time Hopkins worked with Wasn't and later in the year his Bloopers record was released again through And Options and pressed onto cassette tape. Hopkins's last modern classical work was the late 2017 Bower which was released on his Question Records net-label a few months before it closed its doors.
