Out of the throes of punk rock and landing into an energised DIY independent explosion of the late 1970s came Mex, with the debut album ‘Alternative Pop Music’, releasing free spirited music until the apt year of 1984. Then for two decades Mex was locked away and immersed in almost anonymous studio productions that has seen him associated with an assortment of artists, including the likes of sadly departed pop supremo George Michael, to the avant-garde of ex-Soft Machine member Robert Wyatt.
Mex re-emergence as an artist in his own right in 2014 with the release of ‘Dr Jekyll & Mrs Hyde’, an album featuring Porcupine Tree’s Colin Edwin, and amongst others, ex-Dr Feelgood Gordon Russell. Now back with the latest offering comes ‘Do You Wanna F*ck Around?
Mex’s punk sensibility remains with a twist on 60s & 70s culture designed for independent 21st century musical horizons.
The journey continues.
