The productions and remixes of Mexicans with Guns -- an alias of San Antonio, TX-based polyglot Ernest Gonzales -- fall somewhere between post-dubstep and experimental hip-hop, pitting deep bass probes and insolent percussion against combinations of piercing noise detritus and cut-up vocal samples. MwG’s debut was a 2008 remix of the Ernest Gonzales track “Lullaby 5.” The following year, MwG remixed the likes of Major Lazer, Yppah, and several others, and issued the Nuts and Bongos EP on (Gonzales' own) Exponential. Bassnectar and Oy remixes came in 2010, as did the Me Gusto EP, a release on the Innovative Leisure label. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
