Mătăsaru George Leonard aka M.G.L. has quickly set himself as one of the most distinctive voices on Romania’s urban soundscape.

His musical journey began in 2017, yet the real breakthrough came in 2020 with "NO SH*T SHERLOCK" and a eye popping feat with NOSFE on "Galați". As versatile as genuine, M.G.L. dropped in the same year HURACAN, his first drill take.
Some are counting likes, some are counting streams to measure success. M.G.L. is counting smash hits, forged into his own signature sound. 2021 brought "CINE TE CREZI", the single that established M.G.L. as a constant presence in the urban charts. Add "M-alina Banii" and "Contact Fatal", a track that topped the streaming platforms charts, and you got yourself a true rising star.

"Shotgun", a collaboration with Rava that gathered millions of streams, came as natural and organic as an aloe vera leaf on a wounded knee. Following this, we saw M.G.L.’s name listed on the music score for Haita În Acțiune with "MARATON", as well as on the BEACH, PLEASE! compilation with "MARSEILLE".

In no more than 7 years, M.G.L. polished his raw style into one of the most original sounds out there. Transcending any borders between urban sub-genres, unconventional, unexpected and inspiring for generations to come. His new album, Hannibal Lecter, stands as a proof that this is only the beginning.
