Michael Carpenter and The Banks Brothers are a collaboration between Carpenter, a well respected producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Jy-Perry Banks - one of the country’s most in demand pedal steel players (also, dobro and guitar) and Zane Banks - a purist in the art of electric country picking, (also banjo, mandolin and flat picked acoustic guitar).
These three men have bonded over their shared love of old school country records. When you talk about Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Marty Stuart, The Flying Burrito Brothers, George Jones, Mike Nesmith, Johnny Paycheck and Junior Brown, this is where the boys are living. With a sound incorporating all the colours of traditional country, from bluegrass to honky tonk, alt to rockabilly and everything in between, all presented with high production values and contemporary stylings, the ensemble leaves no ground uncovered.
Forming in mid 2020, the band has released a string of successful albums and singles. Setting a cracking pace, in the last 3 years, the prolific ensemble has released 3 albums, with a fourth to be released later this year, as well as two live albums. They have been nominated for 9 Golden Guitars in this time, in categories ranging from Best Traditional Album, to Bluegrass and Instrumental. They have also established themselves as a formidable live presence, stamping themselves as one of the most prolific and exciting new ensembles in the Australian Country Music scene.
