Michael Kirby-McGann, simply known as Michael Kirby, is a Jamaican-American music artist and education professional from Hartford County, CT.

He is a former member of the boy-band/rap collective BROCKHAMPTON, and made contributions as a vocalist and producer under the alias Rodney Tenor until 2016.

Kirby studied Childhood Education and Psychology at Wagner College in undergrad, and obtained a master’s degree in Teaching Exceptional Learners from Relay Graduate School of Education in 2019. He is currently enrolled in a second master’s program in Educational Leadership at CUNY Hunter College.

In Harlem, NY, Kirby spent five years teaching 7th Grade Social Studies before assuming his current role as a middle school Dean of Student Culture and Instruction. After school, he serves as a youth football and basketball coach. In 2023 and 2025, Kirby received his school’s “Change Our World” award for his commitment to connecting students and staff with community service projects in New York City.
