Michael and Charly met in a music improvisation workshop held by Criss Jay in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was a magical class and time for both of them. Charly ad Michael decided to collaborate and do some free-form recording. Two years later, four singles and "References, Romps and Reverence" were released. Hall and Drobeck recorded at Don Meyer's Spirit's Studio in Albuquerque NM and in Hall's home recording studio in Santa Fe. What began as a completely open improv spontaneously morphed into the exquisitely soft "Lullaby Variations on Brahms." Likewise, their wild "My Favorite Things" began with a romping piano baseline to which Drobeck added her rambling flute. All of the songs, both the originals and covers, were played and recorded free-form, unscripted and unedited.
