Michelle Wright’s storied career is filled with milestones that include sold-out concert tours, more than forty major awards (including her 2011 induction into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame) and millions of records sold. She is the first Canadian‐born artist in the modern era of country music to have a Top Ten hit in America (“Take It Like A Man,” 1992) and a Number One video on CMT‐USA (“Take It Like A Man,” 1992) and to win a major U.S. music industry award (Academy of Country Music Top New Female Artist, 1993).

On a day off in Muscatine, IA during her first week on the road as a touring musician, Michelle penned “Reaching For The Stars.” That song was the first of many that have come from her desire to continue her journey of songwriting, a journey that Michelle calls one of the most challenging yet satisfying aspects of her career. “Reaching For The Stars” was recorded for Do Right By Me, (Savannah Music) Michelle’s debut album. She co-wrote 9 of the 12 songs on her album Shut Up and Kiss Me (BMG Music) as well as co-wrote 10 of the 11 songs on Strong (Savannah Music).
Michelle’s songs have enjoyed Top 10 chart and Top 5 chart success which includes 6 number one chart toppers. She fulfilled a career goal when she received a SOCAN award for one of the most played songs of the year for “I Surrender” co-written with her good friend Eric Silver.

“There’s nothing quite like writing a song that you’re proud of and then sharing that song with an audience.”
