Middle Name Dance Band

Middle Name Dance Band is the trio of Sampology, Megan Christensen & Sam Stosuur. The collaborative project was intended as a one-off studio project for the 2018 released Middle Name Dance Tracks Vol. 1. A cross-pollination between the club and jazz/soul communities, the 5-track EP gained the attention of specialist radio hosts, influential curators and programmers. Support for the debut EP came from Gilles Peterson, BBC 6, BBC 4, CC Disco and Harvey Sutherland.

They have since released Middle Name Dance Tracks Vol. 2, (featured as a Bandcamp ‘Best 12” Single’) Lovers Featuring (featuring Wallace and Natalie Slade), Move Into It and Baby, Got a Light. Across these releases, they’ve amassed support on NTS, Rinse FM, BBC 6, triple j Unearthed, RRR, PBS, FBi, 4ZZZ and RTR.

The band’s positive, uplifting groove of their live show has seen them perform some festival favourites in Australia and the UK including Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here, Strawberry Fields, Meadow, Nine Lives and Wonder Mountain.
