midnight may

midnight may is an ever-evolving music collective led by Estonian singer-songwriter, DJ, and cultural organiser Carlotta Põdra. Originally founded as a cross-border collaboration between Estonia and the Netherlands, the project began with Carlotta and producer Tanel Siimann, blending indie, electronic, and ambient elements. Their debut album, Erase, released in spring 2024, introduced midnight may’s signature atmospheric sound—lush vocal harmonies, experimental production, and emotive storytelling.

Although the duo disbanded due to the challenges of long-distance collaboration, Carlotta continues to lead midnight may, now a full band performing at festivals and cultural events across Estonia. The project thrives on collaboration, constantly shifting and exploring new sonic territories.

On February 24, midnight may released the double single "For Ukraine / For Estonia," marking Estonia’s Independence Day and standing in solidarity with Ukraine. The songs, featuring producer Sander Rosenthal, Ukrainian artist PETROVOCHKA, and a Ukrainian choir based in Tartu, weave together Estonian and Ukrainian musical heritage.
