Two years since the release of her pivotal sophomore album, 2023’s And Southern Star, Mikaela Davis returns in full ethereality with her new single “11:11” via Kill Rock Stars. The track drifts in with the unhurried grace of a dream, carried by cascading harp, drop-tuned guitars and Mikaela Davis’ luminous voice. Never forcing itself, but simply arriving like a signal waiting to be seen. As the shimmering verses give way to the hazy jag of fuzz-tone guitars in the chorus, she creates a space swirling with mystique and elegiac wonder while “make a wish and light the candle” becomes an incantation, a sonic ritual.
