Mike Creech first fell in love with music in high school when he joined his school's rhythm and blues band as a guitarist. At the time, he never imagined he could sing. The band traveled across Ontario, performing at various events and festivals, giving Mike his first taste of the thrill of live music. It was during these formative experiences that he learned to manage the anxiety of being on stage and discovered the profound joy of connecting with an audience—a feeling that has stayed with him ever since.
It wasn’t until college that Mike realized he had a voice worth sharing. About two years ago, he took a leap of faith and sang at his first open mic in Ottawa. Although he was accustomed to performing with his guitar, singing presented a brand-new challenge. He felt like a beginner again, confronting anxiety on stage in a fresh and humbling way. However, with each performance, his confidence grew, and he developed a deep love for the art of singing.
Now, after a year of performing at larger venues, Mike has found his stride as an artist. Music has become his way of connecting with others and making a difference. Some of his proudest achievements include raising funds for cancer and supporting a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa, an organization committed to helping youth in crisis. These meaningful experiences continue to remind Mike why he performs—not just for the music but for the sense of community and purpose it fosters.
