Mike Fulahope, a primarily Hip Hop and Fake R&B artist from the DMV (state of Maryland), started writing raps in 6th grade. His father, a Jazz and Gospel pianist, would introduce him to the drums and piano at age 13. He wouldn't take music seriously until his sophomore year in college however, coping with his first experience of depression. Being an up and coming activist in Chicago, Fulahope would use his music platform for fun/positive messages, touching on issues that affected poor communities. His influences include J. Cole, Marvin Gaye, System of A Down, Aaliyah, Tupac, Linkin Park, Michael Jackson, Curtis Mayfield, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Jhene Aiko, Erykah Badu, Sade, Kanye West, Bob Marley and Chuck D from Public Enemy, whom Fulahope had the pleasure of meeting. However, his work often mimics Jay-Z for his business political substance, Tory Lanez for his R&B sound and the once Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will Smith, for their similar personalities!
Fulahope hopes to continue toward new heights in music as well as life, getting rich and famous solely for the purpose of saving the world! With openers for JZAC, Dizzy Wright, the Palmer Squares and R&B artist Guordan Banks, Fulahope has garnished a small following. Performances at prominent venues like the Laugh Factory, the Promontory, Lincoln Hall and Union Stage in Chicago and Washington DC, along with features on blogs and magazines has made Mike Fulahope ever more closer to his goal of generosity, activism and Divinity!
