Chicago, whose youth oriented rap scene is known for gangs and violence, is a strange breeding ground for a young rapper focused on creativity, positivity and the finer things in life. Mike Lo grew up in Elgin, a suburb outside of the windy city, where he was exposed to the hardships of life so often glorified by the native rappers. This diversity acted as a bouncing board for Lo, who decided to orientate himself toward a new way of life instead of treading the misguided path of many of his peers. It was during his volatile coming-of-age when Lo made the decision to fall out of the negative influences surrounding him and pursue what God has in store for him. In his own words, “I'm listening closely to God, opening up and letting him guide my life” Mike, hopes to inspire and encourage others to explore their faith. This new direction seems to have informed his creative output which has grown more and more in his latest records
