Mike Thompson has always been drawn to music as a centering force in his life. Whether he is writing or producing, he knows he is doing what he was born to do.
Mike has always loved creating; and music is the medium where he truly excels.
Composers like <a href="spotify:artist:3aM9H4QBnPUo6mnNVufAtN" data-name="Bob Brookmeyer">Bob Brookmeyer</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:61bWkkCyCh1jSBmAKdC7sg" data-name="Maria Schneider">Maria Schneider</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7ie36YytMoKtPiL7tUvmoE" data-name="Igor Stravinsky">Igor Stravinsky</a> have been some of his biggest influences. During his journey as a contemporary jazz composer, he was pulled into the process of music production. In particular he was fascinated by the creation and production of pop music; specifically the work of <a href="spotify:artist:3rxIQc9kWT6Ueg4BhnOwRK" data-name="Quincy Jones">Quincy Jones</a> in the 70s and 80s, and <a href="spotify:artist:1rjeVTt9Ra1ldvN7SpeK0G" data-name="Max Martin">Max Martin</a> in the 90&#39;s and 2000&#39;s who profoundly shaped the language and aesthetic of the genre. Jones&#39; background as a jazz composer; and Martin&#39;s as a classical musician, provided them each a unique perspectives to draw from in their groundbreaking music productions. Mike finds his jazz composition background fueling creativity and innovation in his compositions and productions.
