Mikhail Kazakevich is a renowned Russian-English pianist and professor who has significantly contributed to classical music. Born in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod), Russia, Kazakevich began his musical journey at the Gorky State Conservatoire, where he studied under Isaak Katz, a student of the legendary Alexander Goldenweiser.
After graduating with the highest honours in 1986, Kazakevich immediately joined the academic staff at the conservatoire, teaching there until 1992. His career took a significant turn when he made his western debut at the International Schubert Competition in Dortmund, Germany, in 1991. This performance led to engagements with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra and numerous solo recitals in Germany and France. Throughout his career, Kazakevich has performed at renowned venues and festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He has given numerous recitals in the UK at Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square, and the Southbank Centre.
