MIKIMAC is an Ethio-Finnish singer-songwriter based in Helsinki, blending Afro-funk and Ethio-jazz. As the lead vocalist of the legendary Finnish afro-funk band The Blassics, he has played a key role in shaping their raw, groove-driven sound. Their album Togetherings (2019) received international acclaim, earning radio play and festival spots at Naamat, Funky Elephant, and Linna Jazz festivals and performances in Leuven, Brussels, and Amsterdam.
Beyond The Blassics, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Retrieve Ethio Big Band, Grammy-nominated Wayna Wondwossen, and French rapper Gaël Faye. His work spans projects like Ozferti’s Solarius Gamma (2020) and Alpacas Collective’s Seven Wisdoms of Plutonia (2022).
In February 2025, MIKIMAC released his highly anticipated solo EP, ብሶት | B’SOT. The project is fueled by deep disappointment—a raw reflection of a system that seems to erase its people while those in power feed their own egos. As war, poverty, and division consume his motherland, B’SOT captures the hopelessness, frustration, and longing for better days. It is both an external critique and an internal struggle—a battle between despair and resilience, between mourning what’s lost and fighting for what remains. While leaders blame and hate, losing sight of what truly matters, the people are left abandoned, unheard, and uncertain of their future.
Through his work, MIKIMAC spreads MOTIVATION, ART & CHAOS, challenging listeners to reflect, question, and resist.
