Directed by Laurent Blondiau (trumpeteer and founder of the Mâäk collectif) and Fabian Fiorini (pianist and composer for a.o. Ictus Ensemble, Aka Moon and Kris Defoort), MikMâäk reshuffles the concept of a big band. It brings together 16 exceptional musicians who’ve made a name for themselves in jazz and improvisation, around a repertoire composed by the different band members.

The result is organised chaos cut with smart interventions that blend organically into liberating compositions. All done with Mâäk’s typically disarming touch of humour. With MikMâäk #2 (Igloo Records, 2019) they release the long-awaited follow-up of their first self-titled album (De Werf, 2015).Line-up
