M i l e t h is a Galician pagan folk metal band. Their music is a blend of extreme metal and folk, inspired by the traditional music of Galicia and its ancient mysticism. With their first album Catro pregarias no albor da Lúa Morta they painted a sonic landscape in which both Galician tambourines and blast beats, both bagpipes and distorted guitars, both "cantareiras" and death growls have its place. Traditional and contemporary instruments are all mixed together to recreate the magical realism of a world filled with dark paths between life and death, between history and myth, rooted in the echoes of Galician paganism and esotericism.
The history of these “Sons of Mil” began in 2009, in the Galician region of A Mariña. This lands, the valley of Xistral in particular, inspired the lyricism of the band. However, some years later, the band relocated to the city of Vigo, when it started to grow slowly. Their style was initially very influenced by melodic black metal, but it evolved to include more and more traditional and folk elements in a much more eclectic approach. A fusion of different metal styles merged with elements picked up from oral tradition, mythology and ancient Galician history.
