As a child, Miles Elkington was once told by a Spice Girl that he was ‘fanciable and cheeky’. Milku is his attempt to fulfil her prophecy.
Over the next decade, from his teen years sweating in Darwin to his current home of Sydney (where he plays guitar for Middle Kids), the sound of Milku was slowly born: part bedroom art-pop, part love letter to synthesisers and autotune and the New York indie bands of the early 00’s. To be bold and unafraid and bombastic. To be emotional and connected. To be known.
The next step was to enlist Sydney producer Tim Fitz to collaborate on what became a five track EP of varying moods and sonic palettes, recorded in a tin-roofed shack in the Blue Mountains surrounded by the cacophony of a thousand cicadas. Tim was paid in Bitcoin, which promptly tanked.
Music for Milku has always been a place where it’s ok to feel and have fun. He hopes you can find that place in these songs.
