Milton Hall is an American artist who has produced art in several mediums but largely as a musician and songwriter. Paste Magazine has listed him as one of the "12 South Carolina Bands You Should Listen To Now". Hall's music is chameleon in nature veering from pure pop, rock, indie folk and occasionally abstract soundscapes. Shuffle Magazine described his album Numb World (Space Idea Tapes) as a "meeting of easygoing melody and pillowy fuzz". Hall was born in Columbia, SC and continues to reside in the area.
He cut his musical teeth touring and recording on bass with a regional indie rock band, playing everywhere from Athens, GA to CBGB’s and recording several times with producer Dave Barbe. He has moved up to singer/songwriter on his two most recent releases. 2011's Numb World played like a mix tape made by a friend interweaving pop and abstract soundscapes. Coat From Japan, Recorded in the Winter of 2014, captures Hall’s easy and pure pop melodies, but with a variety of rock influences seemingly from multiple decades. Coat From Japan has variety, but it is all rock in the best way. It made multiple record of the year lists for 2014.In 2018 Hall self recorded Crowds which could be filed in the indie folk bin. A video for the single Interstates is definitely worth a watch. As of 2020 Milton Hall is experimenting with yet another sub genre of his own creation.
