Durban-based afro pop, hip hop, Jazz, Rnb artist "Miona" is best known for her collaborations with local afro pop and Maskandi artists, her energetic event performances and futuristic-inspired wardrobe. With lush soundscapes, African sound and heartfelt choruses, her music draws influence from artists like Whitney Houston, Lira, Emily Sandre, Miriam Makeba, Kelly Khumalo, Labrinth and Demi Lovato. She grew up under a musical family, participated as a church choir member and an intermediate singer in her school. Her school used to win against provincial schools in 2011 when competing as school choirs when she was in grade 9, a family member introduced her to a guy called Clive, that is when she became lead band singer for Clive's band in Musgrave (Durban). She left the band at grade 11 and after matric she continued singing until she was noticed by more fans. Miona's love for music grew greater after that and she kept going forward ever since. She has collaborated with many well-known musicians, such as MusiholiQ, Mzukulu, Mduduzi Ncube, Xowla , Siya Ntuli and many more. Her work at Inkabi Records and FS World Records landed her music career on green pastures, deals and learning experience from other well-known musicians in South Africa, such Bab'Ntokozo Zungu, Reason, Fifi Cooper, Big Zulu, and many more. Miona's work with producers like X-wise and Xowla in her upcoming debut album, it has given her more opportunities in performing on the main stages of Festivals.
