A lot of what's called alt-country is indie artists connecting to their country roots. Danny Baker honed his vocal style and guitar skills in honky-tonks and country bars across the Pacific Northwest. With MIRACO, he flips the script and cranks up the amps with a more aggressive, rock-based sound.
Danny started MIRACO in 2024 as a vehicle for songs that didn't quite fit the roadhouse. Baker's vocals and songcraft are still informed by traditional roots, but MIRACO's sonic palette has been given room to roam, and they're just getting started. With scraping, shimmering guitars and a propulsive rhythmic foundation, influences like Hüsker Dü and Son Volt bleed out.
MIRACO's debut single, a cover of the 2003 alt-rock classic Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, points the way: a thunderous bottom end, feedback-drenched guitars, crisp twangy leads, all topped by Baker's heartfelt pleas – showcase a band confident in its footing as it emerges from the gate.
