Mircea Baniciu started his career in '70es as a vocal lead of the Romanian rock band Phoenix. Songs of the band have become evergreens, and are still very popular today - Andrii Popa, Nunta, Mugur de Fluier, Fata verde, Mica Tiganiada. In the '80es he launched 4 solo albums - "Albumul Galben", "Ploaia", "Secunda 1" and "Secunda 2". He composed most of songs himself, on lyrics of famous Romanian poets. In this time he has become one of the famous singers in Romania, with a number of songs became absolute hits - Esarfa in dar, Daca ai ghici, Scrisoare de bun ramas, Vara la tara, Tristeti provinciale, Pisica neagra, Dealul cu dor.
After '90 he was part of the "Pasarea Colibri" group, which was one of the most successfull FolkRock bands.
