Michael Gold, known by his stage name Mirror Tree, took an extraordinary path to pursue his music career. Formerly a pilot in remote Alaska, Gold's heart was drawn to the less trodden road of creativity. His upbringing was surrounded by music, being the son of Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Sharon Robinson, who collaborated extensively with Leonard Cohen. Trained in classical and jazz piano, he joined indie-disco band Poolside and co-wrote hits like "Feel Alright." However, the call of the wild beckoned him to Alaska, where he eventually returned to Los Angeles to focus on his musical journey. Inspired by Spaghetti Western soundtracks and Tropicália, Gold teamed up with former bandmate Filip Nikolic to create Mirror Tree's sound. The vintage Farfisa organ became their signature element, and they crafted grooves blending ELO's essence with a chillwave vibe. Tracks like "300 Miles" and "Mirror Tree" showcase Gold's virtuosic keyboard skills and poetic verses. Throughout the creative process, the concept of the Mirror Tree symbolized how light and life resonate with the people and things around us. This metaphor became the album's title and embodied everything that brought Gold to this point in his artistic evolution. Though not overtly spiritual, Gold finds comfort in the notion that people's presence continues through the impact they make on others.
