Los Angeles based indie pop artist, Misha Romanoff, jumped onto the local music scene this year with 3 diverse singles harkening to 2010 indie pop/rock acts such as MGMT, Passion Pit, Phoenix, and The YeahYeahYeahs. His intense vocals shined on his debut electro-infused rock banger, “Cut You Off” and proceeded with a sequel track by delving deeper into the psychoanalytic lyrics on, “Cruise Into The Night”. He then concluded the trilogy with a haunting mid-tempo lo-fi track bereaving his past relationship, “Not In Love With You”. The freshest single,“Don’t Call Me That” is a prequel to his trio of breakup songs, which answers the question, “Why would Misha choose to be with someone like this?”. He contributes a different perspective by equipping his deceptively serious vocals combined with an upbeat, indie pop track using bouncy pianos, scatty drums, and vintage synths.
Misha Romanoff says, “Don't’ Call Me That” is about when I had to take a step back and ask myself how I got into this rollercoaster of a relationship. I looked at my family's history of alcoholism and realized I was dating someone with a similar background. I placed value in areas that I shouldn’t have, which resulted in heartbreak and disappointment. This realization is best summarized in the pre-chorus, “Take a step back from me. If you come any closer, you won’t know what is reality.””
