Starting fresh out of The Citadel (The Military College of South Carolina), and after his mother’s unexpected passing, this self-determined aspiring dentist found himself falling in love with performing to his local town of Charleston. There he built and fronted the now nationally known band, Southwood. He then relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his career head on. While writing and performing in Nashville, a talent booker at a venue sent in videos of Mitchell performing to NBCs The Voice. After urging him to audition for the show, Mitchell Lee became one of America's fan favorites as a 3 chair turner, and chose a spot on Blake Shelton's team. During rehearsals, Kelly Clarkson asked Mitchell what his genre was, which he responded with "Palmetto Rock" - an ode to his home state of South Carolina, the Palmetto State.
