Mixte, Latin for "mixed," aptly encapsulates the band's ethos and sonic landscape. Mixte's sound oscillates between extremes – heavy yet ethereal, fast-paced yet contemplative, intricate yet minimalist. This dynamic range mirrors the band's philosophy of exploring global essences through a kaleidoscopic musical lens, offering listeners a rich, multifaceted experience that challenges conventional genre boundaries.
This German experimental rock/metal project, formed in 2017 by Anton Ra and Phil Jobmann, defies genre constraints, blending heavy atmospherics with complex arrangements and laconic passages. Their music paints a vibrant auditory canvas, fusing the monochromatic foundation of rock and metal with a spectrum of musical influences and philosophical musings on existence.
After lineup changes, Anton Ra assumed vocal and lyrical duties, releasing their first track, "Massive," in 2019. Visual artist Elizaveta Ratushnyak, Anton's sister, complements the music with striking handpainted imagery, creating a unique audiovisual symbiosis.
2022 saw Mixte solidify its lineup with Luc on drums and Philip's return on bass, relocating to Rheine. In a further refinement, Jens Milo replaced Luc in August 2023. Now a tight-knit trio, Mixte actively rehearses, breathing life into Anton Ra's vast repository of creative ideas accumulated over years.
