Mizu is the band name for Jackson Bliss, who has been writing indie, electronic, & post-rock music for over two decades. Born in Northern Michigan and raised mostly in Chicago & Southern California, Mizu studied piano at Interlochen Arts Academy, creative writing at the University of Notre Dame, & literature & creative writing at USC. He is the author of three books that explore the relationship between music, language, and mixed-race identity, among them, COUNTERFACTUAL LOVE STORIES & OTHER EXPERIMENTS (Noemi Press, 2021), AMNESIA OF JUNE BUGS (7.13 Books, 2022), & DREAM POP ORIGAMI (Unsolicited Press, 2022). Mizu lives in Hollywood with his wife and their high-fashion dog, Gogo!
