Soul/j-pop duo +MNA is the musical payoff you never knew you needed until now. Flash on this combination: Marquis Anthony, a high-value vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter who just happens to be a black man who can sing in perfect Japanese as well as English alongside Aki Yamamoto, a monstrous bassist, guitarist, and vocalist originally from Japan now based in NYC with a Master’s Degree in musical composition from William Paterson University. Together as +MNA, these two handsome devils tracked an amazing debut EP called Another Tokyo Lullaby that puts their smooth, cross-cultural grooves and harmonies on worldwide display.
Both members of +MNA have already forged meaningful careers in music and media: Anthony has hosted & DJd private and celebrity events with Calvin Harris, Nick Jonas, Pitbull and other stars, performed at Yankee Stadium, CBGB, and The Knitting Factory, and appeared on several big Japanese TV Shows like Another Sky and World Traveler. He’s also modeled and acted for national Verizon billboard campaigns, Maxim Magazine, and Comedy Central. Yamamoto is well-known in the New York City music scene, has studied with heavyweights including Jim McNeely, Richard DeRosa, Gene Bertoncini, John Pisano, and Matt Harris, and has had his big band charts performed by notables like Mulgrew Miller.
+MNA write memorable, sophisticated songs and possess that certain unnameable X Factor that creates worldwide stars. Spin them once and you’ll understand.
