Hailing from Malang, Modern Approach crafts cold, synth-laden sounds reminiscent of gloomy dance music of late 70s and 80s Europe. Vocalist Maulana Akbar and bassist Bayu Silalahi were formerly part of Ultraviolence, a darkwave duo coming from Malang. Modern Approach was formed after the demise of Ultraviolence in 2019, following the release of their debut album 'References'. Not wanting to cease their explorations and experiments of dark and raw sounds, they initiated Modern Approach to carry on their musical torch.
