Modern Nomad is the recording project of Baltimore native, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Tom McLean. McLean began writing and recording his own music in 2013, drawing inspiration from the jangly psychedelic pop sounds of The Beatles and the deep atmospheric grooves of artists like Tame Impala and Toro y Moi.

Modern Nomad's latest album, For The Love Of, released on November 17, 2023, marks a significant milestone in McLean’s musical journey. Drawing inspiration from classic records like RAM, Pet Sounds, and Aerial Ballet, the album reflects McLean’s commitment to creating music that feels both timeless and innovative. The lead single, "Where Do I Go?", was notably featured on Spotify’s editorial playlist 'Modern Psychedelia,' placing Modern Nomad among some of the most compelling contemporary artists in the genre.

McLean has shared that his approach to For The Love Of was influenced by the story behind Harry Nilsson's Nilsson Schmilsson, aiming to achieve a similar "Beatle quality" in his work. This ambition is evident in the album's meticulously crafted melodies and lush arrangements, which resonate with the warmth and nostalgia of the 60s and 70s while incorporating modern indie rock elements.

Modern Nomad’s presence on various editorial playlists, including Feel-Good Indie Rock, Dreampop, and New in Alternative, underscores McLean’s wide-ranging appeal and ability to connect with a diverse audience.
