Delivering incendiary, ballad-esque pop/rock, Mollie Marriott is a singer/songwriter from the U.K. She is the daughter of Steve Marriott -- singer and guitarist of the Small Faces and Humble Pie -- who sadly passed away when Mollie was 12 years old. She was subsequently raised by her stepfather, rock & roll singer & guitarist Joe Brown. Her upbringing was naturally quite artistic and she spent a lot of time in her stepfather's home recording studio. She developed a taste for alternative rock and grunge throughout her teens and was particularly fond of artists such as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alanis Morissette.
Mollie got her first taste of performance at the age of 12, having briefly joined and toured with a girl band. Through the friendship of producer Jan "Stan" Kybert (KT Tunstall, Massive Attack), she eventually met Liam Gallagher, who recruited her to perform backing vocals on the 2002 Oasis album, Heathen Chemistry. She took some time during her twenties to raise her daughter and pursue other interests and hobbies (including a career in dental nursing) before ultimately deciding to return to the industry a few years later, performing with the likes of Mick Hucknall, the Who, and the reunion of the Faces in 2015. She went on to share the stage with the likes of Robert Plant and Mark Knopfler in celebration of Rolling Stones founding bassist Bill Wyman's 80th birthday in late 2016.
While the late 2010s saw Marriott continue with backing vocal work -- she went on to work with Chas & Dave and Dennis Locorriere of Dr. Hook -- she also got to work writing and recording her debut full-length. She began writing the album in Nashville with the intention of combining the various alternative influences of her teens. The record -- titled Truth Is a Wolf -- saw release in the fall of 2017 and featured a guest performance from Paul Weller on the track "King of Hearts." Marriott embarked on a nationwide tour to promote the album throughout November and December of that year. She also acted as creative consultant and vocal coach on the stage musical All or Nothing, a production based on the career of the Small Faces. ~ Rob Wacey, Rovi
