Named for a character developed within the conceptual continuity of the Goldstein musical lineage, Mombius is the solo project of Ezekiel Goldstein, a Metro Detroit-based multi-instrumentalist and producer. With the release of his debut album, "Cosmic Thug", Goldstein pioneered a new subgenre of aggressive and highly technical MIDI-driven industrial music bolstered by beats from a traditional drumset and the Fruity DX10 synth plugin, dubbed "electroviolence". The record was released July 18, 2021, on local underground rock and experimental music label Percolator Records. After dropping another standalone single in September of that year, "Blues Dedicated To Mars, The God Of Conquest", Goldstein released an extended play of new songs February 5, 2022, again through Percolator. This EP, "Reggie", marks Goldstein's first release to incorporate both electroviolence and stoner rock influences. October 2022 saw the release of a double single, "UNHINGED lunatik", ahead of an anticipated sophomore electroviolence LP, “12.”, released in December of that year. Goldstein’s third record, the groove-heavy, rock-based “Post-Truth Situation”, was released on April Fool’s Day, 2023, promptly followed by an electroviolence mini-EP, “Jiveleak”, the next month. August saw Goldstein release “Network Intruder”, an electroviolence EP. In May 2024, Goldstein released the ambitious and lyrically-focused album “The Mechanism”, which includes phonk-inspired sounds and some of his heaviest tunes yet.
