Mon Bethelwood is a musician, artist, and former vagabond based in Asheville, North Carolina. Having spent her early twenties hitchhiking and train-hopping across the country, she wrote songs and played music on street corners for pocket change while spending her nights sleeping under the stars or in communal living spaces in abandoned buildings. Her journey through the underground traveling scene of the early 2000’s led her to develop a lyrical style rooted in storytelling, existential reflection, and dreamlike nostalgia.
Mon’s music blends folk, dream pop, and experimental elements, combining acoustic textures with subtle electronic pulses and atmospheric production. Her debut single Blazing Stars is a meditation on our place in the universe and the childlike wonder that still lives within us. Drawing on the emotional rawness of artists like Cat Power and the rhythmic pull of Sylvan Esso or Maggie Rogers, her songs invite listeners into a landscape that feels both expansive and extremely personal.
Now based in Asheville’s vibrant creative scene, Mon is building an interconnected body of work that spans songwriting, visual art, memoir, and community projects. Her work is unique in the way it blurs the lines between folk tradition and modern production, finding resonance across generations through lyrical intimacy, modern pulse, and a sense of wonder that transcends time.
