Born in Hungary and heavily influenced by the Beatles, Monika started composing and recording songs in her 20’s with international producers while singing in various bands in Budapest, including Pozitiv, who gained national recognition via a local talent show and ended up appearing on television for several weeks. Monika also played at many festivals, including the world-famous Sziget.
In 2008, she moved to the UK and released two singles, Happy Song and Me and My Sister, both of which were playlisted on popular station Jazzy Rádió. Happy Song received an award for best arrangement, while Me and My Sister was given a stellar review by Bluey from Incognito, who is one of Monika’s greatest musical inspirations.
After taking a break to raise her children, Monika returned to the music scene in 2019 with a high-profile gig at the Shoreham Centre, and was also invited by award-winning jazz singer Liane Carroll to perform in Hastings.
In 2020, Monika released a song called Lockdown to support UK Key Workers. This single was broadcast on the radio across Hungary and the UK, and also featured in local television.
Soon after, she launched a campaign to raise awareness about bullying through her song My Mamma Told Me (So Many Things). This project included the participation of real survivors of bullying, and was produced by Ashley Slater (Freak Power).
Monika also leads a 13,000-strong community of artists through Brighton Bands & Musicians, the city’s biggest online music hub.
