Anna Iachino from Montreal,Canada, of Italian descent is the songwriter, vocalist, rapper, poet, dancer, & storyteller. Arnold Ludvig from the Faroe Islands is the composer, arranger, & award-winning bassist.
MonkeyRat delivers multi-genre music rooted mainly in Funk. The band was formed in Copenhagen w/ award-winning guitarist, Alain Apaloo from Togo & superb Danish drummer Jens Stoklund. MonkeyRat released their 2010 debut album, Fuck The Jante Law followed by Sunshine in 2012. In 2016, 4 funky digital singles were released w/ The Hentze Horns. Get into The Light, MonkeyRat's 1st hip-hop/gospel collaboration w/ D. Cameron, D. Herbert, & J. Zachariasen was released in 2018. In 2020, MonkeyRat released their funk/pop banger, Good Morning Reykjavík & U Gotta Love Being U, MonkeyRat's 1st pop/soul single & Anna's 1st co-written song w/ H. A. Jacobsen & Beinir.
In 2022, MonkeyRat released The Child ft. Anna Sofía Skoradal, their 1st neo-soul single & epic EP, "Isolation", their 1st poetry/psychedelic rock track.
In 2024, MonkeyRat w/ the Hentze Horns started the year w/ their funky smash hit single & funny YouTube video, "Niels Uni Dam".
On May 10th, MonkeyRat blasted into overdrive to the psychedelic rock sounds of 1969, w/ 2 spectacular guitar solos of Alain Apaloo on “What A Crazy World”.
On June 14th, MonkeyRat dives into African funky beats & vocals w/ Ayi Soloman ft. guest rapper, dancer, & percussionist extraordinaire, on “Where’s The Peace?”.
