Cut from the same experimental psych-pop cloth as bands like Yeasayer, Grizzly Bear, and Animal Collective, Brooklyn, New York-based indie rockers Monogold formed in 2007 as a four-piece and released their debut album Waves. The band went for a more minimalist approach on their next project, the Spin-approved EP We Animals, in 2009. The newly minted trio of Keith Kelly, Jared Apuzzo, and Mike Falotico further refined their signature blend of ambient, new wave, and psychedelic indie pop on their 2011 full-length, The Softest Glow. A colorful, exhilarating EP titled This Bloom followed in 2014, and in 2015, the trio released the dreamy, acoustic-minded EP Good Heavens. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
