Jhon William Castano Montoya, know in the music scene as MONTOYA, was born in Colombia
And since 2001 he has spent his life in Italy. His music universe is polyhedral: he is a musician
with classical education, graduated in violin and composition electronic from Agostino Steffani Conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto, but he is also producer, composer, researcher and creative. For 5 years he was involved inn Fabrica, the creative research center of the Benetton group, where he not only materialized his own sound combining the academic path with electronic experimentation but he also worked with projects that combined art and communication.He has composed advertising soundtracks for companies like Emergency, Perugina, Telecom, Enel, Eni ad works with the well-know Italian communication Agency Armando Testa
MONTOYA published two albums with Fabrica “EL VIAJE” (2012) and “MOHS”, while 2015 he related his album IWA with the Italian label White Forest Records, which was reviewed as one of the best electronic music records in Italy. MONTOYA has signed with ZZK Records, his released OTUN in 2019, and EL NIDO in 2023 and has collaborated with many International artists like Aterciopelados, Rubio, La Chica, Ricky Martin etc.
He has performed alla round Europe, Asia and South America, sharing stage with lots of artist like Nicola cruz, Chancha via Circuito, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Clap! Clap!, Populous, El Buho, Moderat , Omar Souleyman, Ninos du Brasil, among others
