Formed by Jonny P Taylor, Montrell played over a hundred shows touring the UK, Germany, Holland and Italy. Alex Moorse, drums; Sam Delves, bass; Michael Kurtz, lead guitar. They started selling out larger venues in Venice and London, and even made an appearance on NBC to discuss their homemade chilli sauce.
The Lemon EP in 2019, after their first German tour, won them a cult following, the lemon logo drawn by Luca Bowles. Boyter and Pope's beautiful video for ‘Aqua’ saw the band in an underwater tank. Jon Supran produced ‘Don’t Stop Me Baby’, and the nihilistic ‘Aeroplane’ was recorded almost completely live without a metronome, mimicking the band’s live sound.
In 2021 the band went into a giant, disused recording studio for the Angel EP, produced by Hugh Fielding and Jon Supran. Panther Records directed an enigmatic video for ‘Magnets’, and ‘Simpler in the Dark’ was hailed as “something very special” by Elton John himself on his Rocket Hour.
2022 saw Montrell's Some Kind of Love EP. The title track, already bouncing the floors that year, was engineered by Danny Monk and mixed by Dom Morley, and still stands as an audience favourite.
Nurturing a special relationship with Venice and their manager Max Busin, the boys returned for a second tour across Northern Italy and recorded their final EP, 'Live in Schio'.
Montrell played their final show at The Lexington, Kings Cross, but their lemon remains stickered all over England, Germany, Holland and Venice.
