The Moonflowers emerged in 1988 a good-natured cacophony with high-spirited antics. They were put together by Sean O’Neill in 1988 when he moved to Bristol from his native Liverpool. Their wild, psychedelic and quite silly live show soon stirred the local scene and the band released their first EP “We Dig Your Earth”.

They’re next EP , “Get Higher” 1990 combined a dance/ psychedelia sound and was licensed to Heavenly records. The bands live shows and faux-hippy attitude poked fun at themselves, the music business (and anyone else taking themselves too seriously) struck a profound sympathetic chord with audiences far and wide who allowed themselves to be forced to hold hands while they watched the group cavort and leap about in an effort to obtain world peace by the year 1999.

The band's own label, Pop God released their own EPs then albums plus pals Praise Space Electric, and ME. A first LP "Hash Smits" was released in 1991. It comprised tracks from various EPs and a John Peel session.
Moonflowers maintained constant touring, honing their live show which featured backdrops designed by internationally acclaimed artist Liam Yeates and in 1993 released their second LP called ‘From Whales to Jupiter and Beyond the Stars to Rainbohemia’ which mixed folk, dub, rock and dance influences.

In 1995 they made the exquisite ‘Colours and Sounds‘ double LP, recorded in France. This was followed in by "Brainwshing And Heartists" 1997 and "Don't Just Sit There, Fly!" in 1999
