Moron Police is an award-winning Norwegian prog/pop rock band considered to be one of Scandinavia’s top live acts; having toured extensively and performed at major festivals like Hove, Norway Rock and by:Larm.
Their long-awaited third album A Boat on the Sea (2019) represents their maturation from a hard rocking party band to one that is more focused on catchy melodies and outspoken world views. It received top reviews worldwide—from PROG and Classic Rock Magazine to webzines and YouTubers—and features artwork by award-winning artist DULK. The album was nominated for “Best Rock Album” and “Best Artwork” at the IMAs, led to the band signing a record deal in Japan and received praise from the likes of Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the band performed in an all-star virtual concert alongside some of the biggest names in progressive rock.
After the heartbreaking loss of drummer Thore Omland Pettersen, the band now returns with their most personal and ambitious chapter yet. With help of renowned drummer Billy Rymer (The Dillinger Escape Plan), their upcoming concept album Pachinko fuses progressive metal with their patented brand of catchy pop melodies.
Earlier albums The Propaganda Machine and Defenders of the Small Yard were embraced by fans and critics alike. They've performed with the Kristiansand Symphonic Orchestra at the Kilden Theater and Concert Hall—and their song “Who's That Chicken?” was covered by the top U.S. high school show choir.
