Moses, an alternative rock trio from Denver, Colorado, is comprised
of Mackenzie Harlan, Cassidy Guttormson, and Paul Harlan. Their
most recent release, One Big Circle, is an EP that matures the sound
of their previously recorded singles over the last several years. The
group, which was once the musical project of two young sisters with
acoustic guitars, has now transformed to show off a deeper and more
well-rounded sound after Paul joined on electric guitar.
Mackenzie, who shares lead vocals with Cassidy, is also the primary
songwriter, and describes the album’s theme in these words -- “One
Big Circle is about how we perceive the consequences of life, where
everything goes, and why the choices we make should be inspired
outside of our small understanding of choices.”
The EP’s single, Come Alone, is a take on the biblical story of Daniel
from the perspective of King Nebuchadnezzar. It implies of how,
ultimately, if we want change in our life, we need to find it.
My Fire, found on the third track of the album, is based off of a quote from A.W. Tozer “...but if my fire is not large, it is yet real, and there may be those who can light their candle at its flame.”
Recording took place in 2017 at Tessitura Studios in Denver, Colorado, run by husband and wife duo, Malena and Corban Roberts.
